Christie’s Fine Art Auction House in NYC has just made a valuable contribution to a rapidly emerging economy full of talented, multi-faceted artists. On October 3rd, 2022 Christie’s held a private reception for “Phases”, the inaugural NFT auction for the Christie 3.0 platform as curated by Diana Sinclair. It can be argued that digital art has been patronized for decades starting with the introduction of AARON(Harold Cohen) in the 1980s. Recognition has only been recently earned over the past few years by the traditional art community who have long refused to acknowledge the new-wave medium. The established, fine-art NYC auction house has fully encompassed the internet phenomena referred to as “Web 3” with their new initiative that gives upcoming and highly celebrated digital artists a place for their highly-valued art work.
Diana Sinclair introduced a limited 1/1 collection of 8 hybrid, digital pieces, each embracing the impermanence of the human experience. The internationally awarded 18 year old creator and activist extends her talents across various interests including photography, video, drawing and whatever she can get her hands on to communicate her story. Being an early adopter of NFT technology has propelled Diana’s creative career even further and established her as a pioneer in the industry. Christie's proudly serves as a massively positive transition in her creative endeavor. Diana’s first solo showcase experience is a remarkable example of the distance digital art has travelled to establish itself as a valid medium and what the future of art may look like. Artists like Diana Sinclair are paving the way for progressive future leaders and influencers in art and culture.
The evening was bustling with smiles and excitement as the attendance congratulated Diana on her successful showcase at Rockefeller Plaza, NY. Friends and collectors wondered the room, making conversation about the unique pieces over champagne and cocktails. The largely popular Metaverse platform, Spatial was a supporting partner. Just like URL experiences, the IRL networking at these prestigious events are rewarding experiences, allowing likeminded individuals to connect over similar professional interests. If you haven’t visited a physical NFT gallery yet - add it to the bucket list. The Christies 3.0 inaugural auction will be open until October 11th.
The emerging Web 3.0 ecosystem has created an entirely new avenue for creatives, the financial sector, entertainment and virtually every industry that can evolve from blockchain technology. Decentralization and non custodial virtual assets have become high valued amongst society as we progress into a digitally driven future. NFT initiatives have allowed for under-privileged artists to have a louder voice online and IRL. Blockchain technology along with these supporting initiatives have served as an accelerator to implementing a more even playing field - financially and artistically. Building strong communities during this bear market has become vital to the success of this internet renaissance. It is crucial to get global trailblazers like Christie’s involved in the space as mainstream adoption will come over the years with general awareness through art, entertainment, finance & education. Christie’s and Diana’s collaboration will be remembered as a historically significant event when the documentation to this new era comes to an end, but - the future looks bright.
