Full Episode Transcript:

Josh Kriger: Welcome to Hot Topics on Edge of NFT. I'm Richard Carthon. I'm here with Josh Kriger and we're diving to the latest and most exciting developments in the world of Web3, blockchain, and digital assets.

Richard Carthon: It's another production of the Edge of Company, a quickly growing media ecosystem empowering the pioneers of Web3 tech and culture.

Josh Kriger: Today, we'll discuss some breaking news on the announcement made by the chair of the Global Esports Federation's Digital Transformation Commission on how the Global Esports Federation will be integrating virtual sports in AI technologies.

Richard Carthon: So the Olympics have kicked off again in Paris and Simone Biles has achieved an all-around gold medal in gymnastics yet again. However, there's more happening in the world of technology as well. At UNESCO HQ in Olympic City, Paris, Eric Pullier has announced his appointment as chair of the Global Esports Federation Digital Transformation Commission and his plans to progress the GEF forward technologically. He envisions integrating virtual sports and AI technologies into Olympic eSports to create inclusive competitions. BADM, where Eric holds the role of CEO, is committed to powering UNESCO's Fit for Life program, which aims to enhance youth well-being and support COVID-19 recovery through sports, As part of this collaboration, Vatom will develop a global token utilizing the new NFFT format, that's N-F-F-T, that combines AI and embedded game designs. Pretty exciting collaboration, Richard, between Vatom, GEF, and Interface Technologies. And it definitely seems like it's going to move the needle, not only for gaming and sports, but also health benefits in schools and sort of evolving what's happening in the world of NFTs. What are your thoughts?

Josh Kriger: Yeah, it's really cool that Eric got this appointment. I know behind the scenes, he's been doing a ton in this space, especially around gaming. And for this to finally come to fruition and us being able to talk about it publicly is very exciting. But the other thing that I think where there's a lot of correlation and where he's going to be able to help, just to explain Vatom a little bit more, it provides the leading AI engagement platform And Vatom also has unique solutions that's been deployed by the world's largest companies, like sports teams and organizations that include Google, PepsiCo, P&G, Deloitte, EY, iHeartMedia, and so much more. So this collaboration makes a ton of sense to me.

Richard Carthon: Yeah, absolutely. I think you have to understand the gravity of this announcement. The Global Esports Federation is huge. Obviously, esports is one of the fastest growing industries. It has 173 member federations, and it's just touching a lot of different folks all over the world and a lot of different fans. So when you think about sort of fan engagement, loyalty, rewards, You know, blockchain and NFTs are a great use case. We've talked about this NFFT technology before at NFT LA in LA. I think it could really open up the gamification layers that are possible around this fan experience between folks that love to watch esports players and the stadiums that are hosting these games.

Josh Kriger: Yeah, it's incredible when I think about the future of eSports and where things are headed right now. Obviously, sports like we're used to American football, football, across the rest of the world, cricket, etc. are some of the most watched. entertainment that's out there. But when you look at e-sports for the next generation, what's coming, it's taking over. So it only makes sense to get in front of this and start to put some things in place that people eventually will be able to perform at the Olympics in esports. So I think this is the first step in a very exciting future.

Richard Carthon: Yeah, just one more thing I wanted to underscore. I think there's always a challenge with sort of critiques of the amount of time that teenagers are spending, you know, on their phones doing games. It's pretty high. So I love the combination of sort of combining, you know, this type of initiative with the Olympics with sort of a fit for life program that UNESCO is hosting to sort of, you know, not I guess sort of strike that nice harmony between all these different efforts. Yes. Kids, and teenagers, they love games. We love games. But how do you also ensure that people get out there and exercise? Like, I think we've talked about in the show before how you and I are always sort of at the gym every morning, even when we're on the road. So I love that combination.

Josh Kriger: I do as well. Getting movement out there is positive. And I think having that nice blend of, all right, let's go have fun and play bondies consoles and let's go get moving, uh, as things move forward is, is a pretty awesome blend. So I'm excited for it.

Richard Carthon: Well, shout out to Vatom and Esports Federation for full disclosure. We are sort of media partners with the NFFT project. And that is a wrap on today's hot topic. We've covered how the Global Esports Federation's big ambitions for digital transformation is leveraging blockchain technology. So let us know what you think about this use case and how it may shape the future of Web3 and Esports. Stay curious, stay secure, keep pushing Web3 boundaries. This is Josh and Richard signing off from Edge of NFT. Catch you on the flip side of the blockchain.
